Hello, me again. I have painters block, yet bizarrely at the same time I have many paintings in my head but start one and it seems to block the others. I don't know...
Today I went to Glastonbury (the town not festival), it was so lovely, so many people with agendas other than Tescos or television, there is life out there!
Hares, they are everywhere, well mostly in artwork actually. I saw several paintings of hares in Glastonbury that I wish I'd done, I saw a few in the First View exhibition I'm currently in. Maybe there are too many hares and I should paint, I don't know, maybe aardvarks but I LIKE hares! This could become a rant but that's not the purpose of my blog (though actually it maybe). Hares do inspire me, do you know they can (though not often) conceive whilst already pregnant! One of the reasons they are associated with fertility, well it is pretty impressive isn't it!
Tomorrow I'm hoping to attend the "Filly Loo", dodgy name but lovely event. In case you were wondering it's a pagan festival at Ashmore in Dorset to celebrate the solstice, (think Wicker man but without the sacrifice, probably...). I'm looking forward to it.
Welcome!
I thought this blog would be a good idea to let everyone know what I'm up to on the painting and modeling front. I'm also hoping this may help me keep track of my thoughts, see what comes to fruition and what slips down the back of the easel!

Gosh it's been a jolly busy few days. I have delivered the commission I had been working on and was able to see the home of "In the green wood" also. I'm always delighted to see my paintings on peoples walls. Green wood had been purchased during Dorset Art weeks last year and the collector wanted a partner for it with which I was very happy to oblige.
On Wednesday I will be delivering three paintings to "First View" at Stourhead and will be at the pre-view this Thursday evening. There was a huge crowd last year for the opening so I hope it will be busy again.
I'm about to start a new painting, I have an idea in my head but as always, never too sure if it will work out on canvas!
A good friend and brilliant artist and craftsman Ray Southwell, is going to kindly teach me pottery! I'm very excited about this, it's something I've wanted to learn for a long time, so there may be some three dimensional hares coming this way...

Phil has just added some lovely photos of self taken by Clive Hannay. I modeled for him a couple of weeks ago in Duncliffe woods, he has a beautiful column in the "Dorset Life " magazine. He does the gorgeous drawings and watercolours of local beautyspots and walks.
I've had "The Bee Robber" accepted for the Bath & West show and it will be in the arts tent from 27-30 May. I feel I need to explain the painting. If you've seen it in my gallery you know it shows a bee hive, there is a moth on the front and it is her presence I want to explain. I was kindly given an ex-Deathshead hawk moth by a mother at my daughters school. I wanted to paint her in her natural habitat and discovered she takes honey from the bees, apparently she emits a high pitched sound that subdues the bees who then allow her to take honey. She is known as the bee robber.
I will also be exhibiting three paintings with "First View" gallery at Stourhead Sat June 13th - Sun 21st June 11am-5pm. There I have "The Dream" "Night Flight" and "The Chase". The first is in my gallery and the other two will be soon.
Modeling work is still busy but as always, easing as we drift towards summer.

Welcome to my blog
I'm currently working on two paintings, one is a commission and the other is another of my "hares". I'm still rather obsessed with the beasties and and I also have a love of fantasy and the ethereal. I'm painting my daughters ( as little fairy creatures) riding hares, It is rather strange but I'm really enjoying going with this inspiration, who knows if it will work though...
